Skeletonized Quartet release ‘Future Shock’

AGAIN MORE SKELETONIZED!! I am always glad when a release from the band pops up and they release a lot of music and this time it is an album called ‘Future Shock’. The trio is now a quartet and Nathan Berlinguette (Guitar, Electronics, Synthesizer)  who runs the noise label Daft Alliance joined the band for this album. And it does give it an extra kick too. ‘Future Shock’ is bleak but and intense, it is very layered and complex but is still easy to listen too. I have a very saxy list where you can find them and more bands like them on this list.

This is a very good album that is best enjoyed in a warm family moment with some hot coco.

NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM

Belgian experimentalists Neptunian Maximalism reurn after their 2020 album ‘Éons’ wich fused mysticism, drone, Jazz and experimental tunes. That album was a gorgeous piece of experimental drone and metal so I am glad they are now back, and with a new excerpt called ‘Solar Drone Ceremony’ wich is taken from the upcoming album with the same name. The beast will be released on I, Voidhanger records on April 23.

Skeletonized release ‘Apparition’

I have lost count how many times the Pittsburgh free jazz/noise band Skeletonized has been on Fuzzy Sun but the only thing I know for sure is that is not enough. Their high energy skronk keeps my body going for yet another day. Their previous releases have been brutal and this new release is no different yet it has something more, there seems to be an extra psychedelic touch to it. Is it more jazzy? Is it less agresssive? It is beautifull that is for sure. Tune in and listen to ‘Apparition’ by the great Skeletonized.

EXPERIMENTAL BELGIAN PROJECT NEPTUNIAN MAXIMALISM

This is quite something. This album by Belgian experimentalists is called ‘Éons’ and on it they fuse mysticism, drone, Jazz and experimental tunes. The whole has a oriental mystical vibe around it and sounds eerie and dark. Each of these 16 tracks is a world on their own, weird and special. The is such a long album that it makes everything even better, I feel like an explorer finding something strange and mystical around each corner.

A truly fascinating listen from start to finish, take your time and enter ther world of Neptunian Maximalism.

Skeletonized release ‘Desolate Conclusion’

High energy destructive free Jazz and noise. This is a bit how I would describe Skeletonized. The Pennsylvania band has released a lot of albums by now and some of them tend to drone and noise and others more to free jazz and noise stuff. Now this new one just gets me itchy and nerveous. The drums are superb on this and the sax is as always an agressive force that makes me go a little nutty. Always gorgeous stuff, and they did it again!

Ambient and Drone on the new Animal Hospital

Animal Hospital aka Kevin Micka from Boston is and experimental musician and he returns with his new album since the release of his 2009 album ‘Memory’. His new album ‘Fatigue’ is a culmination of the past 10 years of Micka creating live music for large ensembles. The first track starts with experimental tunes that bring you fast in a hypnotic state only the push you deeper with the guitar driven drone on the track ‘No Pressure’. It is quite difficult to make guitar drone that is good, you have to succeed in bringing the track to life and this is something Kevin Micka does good. His music is filled with emotion and tracelike vibes.

Twin Sister’s heavy drone leaves you weak-kneed and disoriented

Dutch band Twin Sister, with band members from Sex Swing, Dead Neanderthals and Mugstar, presents its eponymous debut. Heavy, repetitive drone that knocks you off your balance.

The album consists of five tracks, ranging from 4 to 10 minutes. The pace is very slow, the mood threatening and abbrasive. Every track is made up of one heavy riff that is repeated over and over, with only minimal variation. The result leaves you dizzy and disoriented, like it’s meant to bring you in a slightly unsafe trance. Listening for a while gives you the feeling that the overtones of the riffs are nestling themselves between your brain lobes.

What really stands out here, is the album’s consistency. Five tracks, no compromises whatsoever on the recepy: slow, heavy and repetitive doom-drone. The album should come with a warning though; do not drive and listen, high risk of heavy car crash.

Energetic noise and jazz on the new Skeletonized

The Pennsylvania freejazz and noise band seems to release music faster then I can listen properly to them, now they are back with a thingy called “Pink Durag”. Like always the atmosphere is bleak and ominous. The saxophone is again the main ingredient of the album wich makes me happy. Their music is highly experimental but still it is not that difficult to listen to, they bring me a kind of rest but that is probably whats wrong with me. Tune in and check for yourself the new Skeletonized called “Pink Durag”.

Check their latest albums out too.

Dead Neanderthals gift us “Mankind”

Dead Neanderthals is a band I am a bit addicted too, if they are too long gone I feel an itch and that itch needs to be scratched and luckily Dead Neanderthals release a lot of music. “Ghost” was released back in September and ended on my end of the year list because of its eerie amazingness. This band is best at creating hypnotic atmospheres and they can do this with ambient, noise, metal or weirdness all together, but they always succeed. On their new track that is called “Mankind” and is 13 minutes long they succeed again. Hypnotic drone rock bordering on the post metal at its best.

Tune in and enjoy.

Sunn O))) release “Pyroclasts”

Drone gods Sunn O))) released their new album “Pyroclasts” on 25th of October through Southern Lord Recordings. This is the second album from Sunn O))) this year. Their previous one ‘Life Metal’ was released April 26. “Pyroclasts” is recorded by Steve Albini.

As always Sunn O))) delivers art, not only their music but the album art too, these are paintings by Samantha Keely Smith.

As you know Sunn O))) makes dense and epic drone and I believe this is music everyone should experience on their own and take their time to listen too. For me this is music that needs to fit a very specific mood, but when it does it is perfect.

Enjoy “Pyroclasts”.

Boris release ‘LφVE & EVφL’

Too put Boris in a box is a bit too easy, yes, their music is drenched in doom but Boris are a very unique band with a sound that has shifted and changed through the years. Their new records ‘LφVE & EVφL’, for me personally, is Boris at their peak, at their absolute best. The sound on their new record is sounds like a balance between light and happiness and haunted and filled with dread. Some tracks can be soothing and filled with hope and then you have those riffs and vocals that are dragging doom and ruin with the most gorgeous of guitar solos making that make it even more epic. The album starts with an epic postrock track that speaks of hope, the next track ‘Coma’ is follow-up but the dread is building up. ‘Evol’ is 16 minutes of experimental songmaking, this track is made of epic ambient doom, doomriffs that suck your soul out and postrock solos. ‘Uzume’ is bleak magnificent drone and ‘In the pain(t)’ ambient. The album ends with ‘Shadow of Skull’ wich is my favorite. This is brilliant, take your time and listen to Boris.

Mexican psych Tajak release new video

I remember Tajak as one of the very first posts I made on Fuzzy Sun. The Mexican band uses an extreme amount of noise and fuzz in their psychedelic rock. The cool ting about the band is their influences, there can be drone rock or ambient influences but it stays absolutely great psychedelic rock. Tune in for the new track ‘I’ve Seen It Fall’ which is hopefully the harbinger for more music.

Dead Neanderthals release ‘Ghost’

I really like the moment I press play on a new Dead Neanderhals record. They release a lot of music, so that moment they release something new has become someting sacred for me. I know I have to be in a specific headspace to start to listen to a full record of them. The  music they make is mostly challenging and it always has a darker side to it, an eerie vibe. So this time it was me and my headphones late at night in an armchair ready to let 40 minutes of experimental stuff take me over.

This time the Dutch band (Otto and René) are collaborating with Scott Hedrick from Skeleton Witch so I thought it would be some kind of metal influenced album. But no, it isn’t and that is what makes this band so great. The first track ‘Bone Hill’ is 20 minutes and extremely intense, the building of the track is slow and excrutiating adding only layers when absolutely necessary. ‘Death Bell’ is more atmosheric and magical and erupts in an epic explosion in the end.

Again a magnificent record for the lover of the experimental, weird and intense.

30 000 Monkies share ‘He-Man’ from upcoming album

You can be sure of two things when there is new music by the Belgian band 30 000 Monkies, It is going to be heavy and it is going to be weird. But more importantly, the new track is called ‘He-Man’ and it is one hell of a sludge/noise track. On this first single of the upcoming album ‘Are Forever’ the band is going full force so this is sounding very promising for the album. This music needs visuals and that is something is 30 000 Monkies is good at, so check out the tunes and the video and let your brain melt.

‘Are Forever’ will be released September 27 on Consouling Sounds.

The Japanese doomlords Boris are back

Their is going to be a new double LP called ‘LφVE & EVφL’ by the Japanese Heavyweight Boris. We can expect it to land October 4th through Third Man Records. The first track from that upcoming beast is released and is called ‘Love’ and is a gorgeous piece of work. The riffs are tantalizingly slow and create an eerie atmosphere together with the gosthlike vocals. With this track the trio again shows they are masters in what they do.
