Big Fan of the Hominid Label here. Lots of bands on this one that ended up my end of the year list of fucky 2020 too. Heavy stuff for heavy people (and other people). Tune in and play loud.
Shuck is a trio from England formed in 2018 by Al Wilson (Ghold) and Jon Perry (Gnod), soon joined by Guitarist Andi Jackson. They shared their Ep ‘Wunder’ a while ago on Hominid too. Now they are back with a full album called ‘Petrichor and Rainbows’ wich is a gorgeous piece of fuzz. Some tracks are devastingly heavy and fast, other have slow riffs and border on doom. Sometimes noiserock or punk or doom but Shuck is always full of fuzz. Tune in now and buy the record.
Pretty big title their in the header but it is supposed to get your attention. This post is about Hominid and Shuck, about promos, awesome music and label stuff.
On May 1st, as Bandcamp are waiving their fees for the day, Hominid will be donating 10% of every sale to our local Hackney Food Bank. There will be some special discounts on old stock throughout the day, and some new things as well!
I had heard a couple of singles from this album before the release and was getting really excited. But now I am really amazed! This four headed beast of a band made an incredible album. The first track “Party Favors” starts with a fucking Saxophone like they make the most chill music ever, but they don’t, the track slowly gets into noise territory until it blows your face away. “Zoetrope” is a track full of heavy bone shattering riffs, “PCH” is bleak psych and I am not going to walk through every song because that is just boring when you can listen to them. “Resort For Dead Desires” is heavy, really heavy and it is not only noiserock, there is psych, punk in it and whatever and maybe the coolest thing about this album is that every song is very different wich makes this album a pleasure to listen to again and again. This album is released on Hominid Sounds and needs to be in your collection. The album is released together with the digital only single containing the edited version of “A Light Plague” and the full unedited version of “Φυλαχτό”. Both tracks feature on the new LP Resort For Dead Desires in different forms. Order the Resort For Dead Desires T-Shirt and get this digi single free. This album is going to be with ease one of the best of the year. An absolute blast! Tune in now for some Casual Nun.
What to expect with a bandname like Liquid Shit, what to expect when they release an EP with the name “Pillars of Shit”. Well I expected much with such great names and I am not disappointed, the music of the Liquid Shit is a bit of a mix between some classic death metal and dirty noiserock. It is like you put Rainbow Grave and early Entombed in a blender and then just nothing happens, you just look at that shit, throw it away and go listen to Liquid Shit. Out on Hominid Sounds, your place for dirty sounds.
The Hominid Sounds label started 2020 really nice with bands like Bruxa Maria, Casual Nun, Liquid Shit and stuff! Now we get the new track from The Manchester fuzzpunk trio SHUCK. The trio is Jon Perry (drummer of GNOD, Lake Of Snakes) and Al Wilson (bassist/vocals of GHOLD) and Andi Jackson (who is probably playing in bands too) . Check out the new track “Blue Moon” now wich is catchy and extremely catchy. (And while you are here, listen their previous EP “Wunder” too).
On March 17 we get “Resort for Dead Bodies”, the new album by Casual Nun. Their are already a couple of tracks out that I have not shared yet and it is again proof that this band can make loud music in different styles and it all still fits perfectly together. “A Light Plague” is a heavy riffing noiserock track, “Φυλαχτό” is gorgeous heavy psych, “Pink Celestial Heron” goes towards bleak psych and brooding doom and “Party Favor” is just a very cool track. “Resort For Dead Bodies” is going to be awesome. Listen to all these tracks now. Soon out on Hominid Sounds.
Now this is album I am very much looking forward too. Casual Nun are four dudes from England who make loud fucking music, something between punk, noiserock and in your face rocknroll. Their new LP will be called “Resort For Dead Desires” and will be release on box records as well as Hominid Sounds. There are two tracks out. One is in your face heaviness and the other high sorcery space rock. There are only a couple of reason why some people might not like ths music:
- They are deaf
- They have explosive diarhea and they can’t leave the toilet
- They wear crocs
If you don’t know the label Hominid Records you are missing out. The labels releases some pretty damn cool music now and then. Experimental stuff, noiserock and just immens riffing coolness. Black Shape even ended on number 5 of my best of list of 2019.
Listen now and maybe buy it, then your money goes to the local homeless charity Single Homeless Project www.justgiving.com/fundraising/not-so-black-friday
Bit of a bummer that there is a dog on the picture. I’m more of a cat person.
Hominid Sounds is one of those magnificent labels thats full of bands with that heavy underground sound ranging from psych to noise rock to electronics to just plain weird. Their bandcamp is filled with goodies and you should take a good look around.

If you want some hypnotic drone then you are in luck, the band with members of Noxagt, Golden Oriole and No Balls released their new LP. Their self titled album has a dark and eerie vibe and their tracks are all based on evoking that dark ambience.
Again a magic experience on Hominid Sounds. Tune in now form some experimental stuff.
Alright, again something special on Hominid Sounds. The London band We Wild Blood is difficult to catagorize. The only thing for sure is the band produces some heavy fuzzed out tracks. The repetitiveness of some of the tracks adds that extra layer of power. We Wild Blood is a band you need to hear. Tune in now. Out on Hominid Sounds April 1.
I have to admit it is the first time I heard from the band Kooba Tercu. They released a new album through Hominid Sounds, Body Blows Records and Mafia Records.
I’ve been following Hominid Sounds closely because the bands on the label are always special, they always have a very unique sound. And it is no different with the Greek band Kooba Tercu. They have been described as Exotic Noise Rock, Masters of Hypnotic Rythm and thats very to the point.
On the new album you can hear a hypnotic vibes, heavy noise rock and industrial sounds Again a band that can shift between genre’s with ease. Tune in now and buy yourself a copy of ‘Kharrub’. Released on April 11.
As disturbing as it is hypnotizing we introduce the new track by Burning Axis. The band features members of Noxagt, Golden Oriole and No Balls. Their music is experimental and dark.
Somewhere in spring we can expect their debut LP to land on Hominid Sounds.
Lay down and let the nightmarish tunes of Burning Axis wash over you.
From the moment you press play and absolutely great riff starts and introduces you to a great band. We Wild Blood is a heavy three piece from London and they will release their first EP on the great and weird Hominid Sounds.
But it is not only riffs, its the controlled chaos and repetitiveness that make this first track really great. This is one of these tracks that heats up your blood, craving for more and getting you slowly agressive.
If this first track ‘Dark Connections’ sets the example for the rest of the album then we are in for a treat.
Out on Hominid May 1.
The Manchester punk duo SHUCK released their new EP “Wunder” on Honinid Sounds. The duo creates a noisy punk vibe.
Shuck has a unique sounds, the tracks are gritty and loud but still full of hooks and catchy tunes. Both artists have some history in the scene, Jon Perry (drummer of GNOD, Lake Of Snakes) and Al Wilson (bassist/vocals of GHOLD).
Again a great release on the underground label. Check them out and buy their EP.
Favorite track: I Dream of Sarah Conner
Every band that is being released on Hominid sounds has something dirty in their sound. The new band SHUCK is a punk band from Manchester headed by Jon perry (GNOD, Lake of Snakes) and Al Wilson (GHOLD).

Riffs, speed and noise. With these three ingredients you waltz through your day.
For more heaviness check out Fuzzy Sun’s list.
A split casette between Blóm and Thank on Hominid Sounds. Blóm is a very heavy punk/noiserock from the UK trio ( with member of Tough Tits). Thank is an even dirtier UK noiserock band. Listen to these destructive tunes now. Check out more noise on Fuzzy sun’s spotify.
