This month got some absolute new banger, I am exceptionally happy with the new Alexis Marshall track and the announcement of the collab between the body and Big Brave. Soem really great stuff in here, ranging from almost metal to destructive noiserock and some really fine psychedelia too. Check out what June had to offer.
Both Oh Sees and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are bands that keep on giving, keep on releasing quality music in a fast pace. They have released an incredible amount of music and lately they released a couple of live albums but nog they released a complete new album called ‘Butterfly 3000’ wich is a bit different then their previous work. This album is so easy going, so chill it is the perfect summer music, synths, loops and happy sounds is what you get here. Space rock but even more happy. Difficult not the smile and be happy when listening to this. Enjoy and check out their other work.

Bothe Oh Sees and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are bands that keep on giving, keep on releasing quality music in a fast pace. Now the band released another live album and again a bootlegger with this as a message with it:
“Yo indie labels, bootleggers, fans, weirdos. We’ve got a deal for ya…. If anyone wants to release these albums, you’re free to do so. Below you’ll find links to audio master files and cover art. Feel free to get creative with it if you like – it’s yours. Only deal is you’ve gotta send us some of them to sell on GIZZVERSE.COM – whatever you feel is a fair trade is cool with us. Ideas: double LPs, 7”, remix, reimagined cover art, bizarre looking wax, live show box sets, tapes. Or keep it simple – that’s totally ok. Anyone keen?!”
Check it out now.
It is 2021 and I get the feeling the members of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard do not need sleep or rest. Has anyone seen them sleep before? I am starting to this these guys are possible not from Earth. After a pandemic year full of releases, live albums, demo albums and stuff like that they already return with two new tracks called ‘O.N.E.’ and now ‘Pleura’ from their new upcoming album ‘L.W’, the brother of their previous album ‘K.G’.

“One night everywhere. One night everywhere. One night everywhere… Dawn has reared its welcome head. I lay in bed bravely waiting for the day to begin. Hours pass reading the news of the day that begins in such a state. I bravely await fate. Am I going insane? Am I able to wake from the nightmare? Can I keep it contained? One night everywhere turned to nowhere. Human race deserves its steaming fate on a plate. We did exploit the fish of the sea and the birds of the heavens and even the bugs in the ground and every creeping thing thats creeps on earth. Am I going insane? Am I able to wake from the nightmare? Can I keep it contained? One night everywhere turned to nowhere.”
King Gizzard is the gift that keeps on giving. They have released a ton of material this year, from new albums to live stuff to demos and now another one from their bootleg series. ‘Teenage Gizzard’ is collection of there early work that has some more surf vibes to it. Great again ofcourse.
In 2020 it is the output of both King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Oh Sees that have made me happy. Both released a lot of psych this year and everything they do is just brilliant. King Gizzard has released “K.G” and six live albums and a demo album. And now they return with yet again new track called ‘ If Not Now, Then When?’
You can not count on much, especcially in 2020 when everything is slowly turning to shit but one think is always there and it is the music of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard who keep on releasing great stuff, some of that stuff on the softer side and other just in your face heaviness. Now they have shared the track ‘Automation’ and the track ‘Evil Death Roll’ wich is taken from their upcoming live album ‘Live in San Francisco 16”.
tune in to hear the two new tracks.

Now they have shared the track ‘Automation’. A couple of days ago the band uploaded raw audio stems and video for the fans to create their own remixes. The band shares a couple of tracks this year and it seems they will be on the upcomuing album ‘K.G.’ wich will be out on Flightless Records. The Pre-orders will be availabel as of tomorrow. Their will also be another live album called ‘Live In San Francisco ’16 wich will be out this year too.
These bandcamp days are really nice and perfect just before the weekend to get a massive dose of new music. I already shared a load of new music that was out today but in this post I will share the rereleases, rare released and live stuff.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Together with oh Sees one of my favorite psych bands and both of them really hardworking bands with a lot of output. Here are their ‘Demos Vol. 1 + Vol. 2’ with some absolute gems on it. And ofcourse another live album called ‘Live in Asheville ’19’.
The Unwound session on 6/30/1999 in Reykjavik, Iceland. No more words needed.
Volume 3 of Sonic Youth’s Rarities series features unreleased and hard-to-find studio recordings, mostly instrumental. This collection spans from the group’s first Peel session – recorded remotely from NYC – to demos and rehearsals for our final record, The Eternal.
Not long ago the band released their new track ‘Honey’ and ‘Some of Us’ and here are the Australian psych monsters again with a third new track in a short period of time! This new track is called ‘Straws In the Wind’ and is a calm and slightly psychedelic track with vocals from Ambrose Kenny-Smith.
Tune in now and check more Australian stuff.
Aaaah, only a while ago the band released their new track ‘Honey’ and here their are again, the Australian psych monsters! the new track is called ‘Some of Us’ and I have no idea if it is from a new album or not but knowing how much music the band releases there is a big chance we will see a new album and maybe more.
In this heat there cannot be enoug KGATLW so tune in now an listen to ‘Some of Us’ and their previous track ‘Honey’ and ofcourse all the rest because this band rules. If you are in an Australian mood you can check out more bands like King Gizzard on this list.
Yes dear people, it is that time again, it is time again for new music by your favourite Australian band KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD! (jeeeej jeeej jeeej cheering sounds). The band released their heavy riff fueled album ‘Infest the Rats’ Nest’ last year and released their live album ‘Chunky Shrapnel’ a while ago this year. This new song is called ‘Honey’ and was writting by frontman Stu Mackenzie acouple years back. Life if better with more King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. If you are in an Australian mood you can check out more bands like King Gizzard on this list.
With festivals, live events and just about everything else being shut down across the world, many of us are no doubt missing live music. Never has not paying over £4.00 for a flat Carling been so missed…
With that, I’ve been down the rabbit hole across YouTube of some immense live sets over the last few years, and across a number of features, I’ll be posting some of the finest live sets for you to check out during the era of social distancing.
Of course, there is no way it replicate the same feeling as being in your local grassroots venue or standing in a sun-baked (or rain-soaked if you live in the UK) field with pals, but nonetheless, get out the tinnies, boxes of wine, cider, whiskey or whatever your drink of choice, turn up the volume and sit back in your living room, kitchen, bedroom, garden, balcony or whatever and watch 16 astounding live sets and help fill that void of live music.
Super fun, psychedelic-cumbia sounds, the London-based Los Bitchos are the band we need right now. If you dig their KEXP session above, then France TV have an even longer set from Los Bitchos’ set at Trans Musicales de Rennes here.
A recent face and mind-melting rehearsal from Oh Sees who are quite possibly the greatest live band in any universe in any possible dimension.
The Netherlands outfit YĪN YĪN are an onslaught of joyous psychedelic-funk with heavy Eastern Asian influences. Get to know YĪN YĪN below…
Netherlands psychedelic outfit Altin Gün who play a cauldron of Turkish psychedelic classics – in the best way possible are one of the most ridiculous live bands in the world. I wrote about them at La Route Du Rock too here if you fancy a read about how great they were back then but the footage below should be suffice.
Melt Dunes have sadly seemed to have called it a day but before they left us, they were one of the mightiest live bands in the world. Not long before the called it a day, they featured on Fuzz Club’s compilation, supported The Brian Jonestown Massacre and toured mainland Europe, taking their cataclysmic assault of psychedelia, space-rock and krautrock far and wide.
The Mauskovic Dance Band
Psych, cumbia and disco all sounding like it’s from out of space, Netherlands’ The Mauskovic Dance Band are a crazy-fun experience and are perfect for beers during the summer days and nights.
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
What more can be said about Melbourne’s 7-piece psychedelic-merchants? One of the finest live bands today, the prolific outfit are always an absolute brain-eating tour-de-force.
SONS are a raucous riff-riot of psychedelic-space rock and garage-rock. Akin to Oh Sees and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, SONS are utterly explosive and quite possibly one the most underrated bands around today.
Glitched-out krautrock and wonky post-punk, there aren’t many bands out there that are as sonically charged, or as fun as London’s feral, anthropomorphic tree people Snapped Ankles.
The tale of Niger’s desert-rock, psychedelic guitar wizard Mdou Moctar is pretty remarkable. Coming from a strict background and also not having the means to buy a guitar, Mdou Moctar self-taught himself guitar after building his own out of wood and using brake wires from old bicycles for strings.
THE PARADISE BANGKOK MOLAM INTERNATIONAL BAND
Danceable hypnotic Thai-roots party band. If you can’t find any joy from The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band then you might well be entirely lost.
Featuring former members of Thee Commons, Los Angeles’ Tropa Magica blend their brand of cumbia with frenetic, garage-rock and surf-punk. Here they are in session also talking in depth about the origins of the band.
One of the finest new-ish live bands, New York’s The Wants delve between art-rock, post-punk, gothic-rock, electronica and the motorik-pulse of krautrock. Gloriously gloom, If The Wants are not on your radar yet, get involved right now.
Stockholm’s Viagra Boys live show is absolute relentless visceral sonic-storm. Utterly exhilarating, murky post-punk mixed with garage-punk, Viagra Boys are a melting pot of Fat White Family mixed with The Garden.
London based, Japanese psychedelic warlords Bo Ningen are easily one of the best live acts around. Mind-melting, heavy space-rock, Bo Ningen will have you thrown far into the deepest depths of the cosmos before dropping you down to Earth at light speed.
Anemone are a Montreal quintet that are utter bliss with their jangly, sun-kissed psychedelic-pop. The outfit named after The Brian Jonestown’s classic also produced one of the most underrated albums of 2019 last year with ‘Beat My Distance’.
So there you have it – 16 live sets that will hopefully keep you busy during this time of isolation. If you dig what you hear, then be sure to keep an eye out on all these acts for when they’re back touring again, and if in the event you can spare any change in these hard times, maybe grab some merch.
The band shared two live albums recently and the proceeds will go to Wildlife Victoria. Australia is on fire and it needs your help. It is for a good cause, it is awesome music so go press buy and listen to the “Live in Brussels” album now.
Australia is on fire, the whole place is burning and it needs all of our help. One way of doing this is buying the two live albums the band have just released. The proceeds will go to Wildlife Victoria. I am not a big fan of live albums and this may be very well the first live album I posted and I bought them too because this is different. Help out and buy them too.
While I was a couple of days away a couple of incredible new releases saw the light of day. Most of you have possible heard this stuff over the last days but here they are anyways.
You probably know by now that Girl Band is back and they return full force. The first single Shoulderblades was released a while ago and now the second single is dropped. ‘Going Norway’ is from their upcoming album ‘The Talkies’ wich will be released 27th September on Rough Trade Records. ‘Going Norway ‘ and ‘Shoulderblades’ is on their 12″ that you can buy right now. Tune in for the new track ‘Going Norway’.
This is quite some news too, Lightning Bolt returns with their fast paces noiserock. They have shared their first track ‘Air Conditioning’ from their upcoming album ‘Sonic Citadel’ wich will be released on Thrill Jockey. This is their first new music since the 2015 album ‘Fantasy Empire’. Like most bands their sound evolves and shifts and this is no different with the new Lightning Bolt. But what stays the same is the ferociousness and extreme fast paced drumming. Hear for yourselves and tune in for ‘Air Conditioning’.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
The new album ‘Infest The Rats’ Nest’ by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is out. The band is known for their fast paced releases but mostly I believe for their varied sound. They can release semi-jazz albums, heavy psych, mellow psychpop and so forth. On this new album they go heavy, real heavy. At first I thought this would be a trashmetal album. But what makes ‘Infest The Rats’ Nest’ so good is that they keep their unique psych sound that you can find in each album. On this album you can hear a lot of trashmetal, but also some vintage hardrocksounds and ofcourse their very own psychedelic sound. Tune ine for the new album now. And excellent new release again by king Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
Favorite track: Superbug
This is getting ridiculous, I just shared an incredible track from the Oh Sees new record and now we get another new track from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard wich seem to have gone full thrash metal for their new record.
They already shared the tracks ‘Self-Immolate’ and ‘Planet B’ and now you can check out the third track ‘Organ Farmer’. The band promised their new album ‘Infest the Rats’ to be their Heaviest record to date.
We can expect this album to land August 16.
It seems King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are going for the most versatile band around. Their latest releases ‘Fishing For Fishies’ and the track ‘Planet B’ are very different yet they keep that typical Gizzard sound.
The new track ‘Self-Immolate’ is again heavy stuff. The riffs and drums make this a trash metal track and a good one too. Old school solos and fast paced, this is a track to play loud!
I can only hope to hear more of this stuff! Tune in now.
