Noiserock and heavy psychedelic music
This month got some absolute new banger, I am exceptionally happy with the new Alexis Marshall track and the announcement of the collab between the body and Big Brave. Soem really great stuff in here, ranging from almost metal to destructive noiserock and some really fine psychedelia too. Check out what June had to offer.

The Levitation Sessions are something that keep me going and make me really happy, the psychedelic music fest Levitation has been releasing Live LP’s from very awesome bands. They have presented streaming sessions for Acid Mothers Temple (LP on March 6), Oh Sees (was back in September), Kikagaku Moyo, The Black Angels (LP on March 26) and now we have ourselves one from Dead Deadow wich Premieres at 7PM CT on Saturday, February 20. Last year we got ‘Protean Thread’ and Metamorphosed and ‘Panther Rotate and ‘Weirdo Hairdo‘ by Osees, his solo project Damaged Bug with the new ‘Bug On Yonkers’ album, his new project Bent Arcana. This year we already got Witch Egg wich is some kind of wild unfermented jazz and then John Dwyer has released two of the albums with the band Yikes, another releasas Netman and yet another new release as the death metal band ‘Dig That Body Up, It’s Alive’ another one with Pink & Brown, wich was released in 2013. Lately we got ‘Live at Henry Miller Library Big Sur‘ and another upcoming jazzy album called ‘Endless Garbage‘.
Hope you are still following because now we are here for the Improv At Zebulon wich is a magical track of 45 minutes. Try to keep it together, let your emotions flow and feel the spirit of the osees. Or whetever, it is pretty cool.

Now he released a new album together with Nick Murray, Brad Caulkins, Tom Dolas and Greg Coates called ‘Witch Egg’ wich is a a quite fun mix of kraut, some fuzz and jazz. Again, as expected, an original and quite refreshing release.
I made a post a couple of days ago about artworks, albumart, graphic design and stuff that have some connection to psych and noiserock and I really liked making that post so I decided to make it a serie. So in this new series I will try to post about the artists that made art mostly for bands and musicians that fit with my website. There are an incredible lot of artists to chose from so I just pick the ones that interest me and the stuff I like and I will see where it will lead me.
To start of part II of this series I wanted to share with you the London based artist & musician Kazland. First time I saw his work was through the art of the album by Sly and the Family Drone who makes intense jazz/noiserock (The first blue painting is the one from Fly and the Family Drone) . Most of the stuff Kazland paints and draow are colorful and playful. You can buy his works here. Check out his website and follow him.
Next up is Jola Darkovic, a Greek artist and member of The Slang Network (a creative collective). I saw his work first when I found out about the Greek band Kooba Tercu who made and really good album called ‘Proto Tekno’ on Rocket Recordings. And the album art of that album is made by Jola & Cobra.Nine. Their is a lot of street art, arcylics and other stuff that are really great. Ill post some below, the first one the albumcover of the Kooba Tercu album. Check out his FB too and give him a follow. The second picture featues Onebran.
Andreas Christian Haslauer runs the Austrian label Epileptic Media and I did a post about his art and label already but because I love his work so much I tought I needed to mention him here as well. On his label he releases really weird and special music and I encourage you to check out these experimental tunes that go from folky weird to industrial heavy. But what I wanted to share here is his handiwork, Andreas makes all the artwork for his label and for a lot of bands on the label. His illustrations are often eerie, weird and full of color and fit very much with the music the label releases.
Now this I really love, the art of Kyle Ranson. I came across his work a while ago as he is also artist of many of the covers on the Castle Face Record Label (founded in 2006 by John Dwyer (Oh Sees) , Matt Jones and Brian Lee Hughes). Kyle makes slightly crazy art that explodes from colors. I recently bought the latest LP ‘Panther Rotate’ by the Osees with the cover of the cat on it (as seen below) and now aI have a piece of art from Kyle at my place wich makes me really happy.
Tetsunori Tawaray is a Japanese musician and artist that makes sci-fi/experimental graphic novels, album art, artwork, drawings, murals, toys and stuff like that. You can find an lot on his website and you can follow him on instagram too.You can buy a lot of different clothing in his shop too. I got to know his work through the album by Patricia Kokett. The album is called ‘Bizarr’ and was released on Knekelhuis in 2020 and is not noiserock or psych but one of my favourite electronic releases from the last decade. He also did the cover for ‘Mutilator Defeated At Last’ by Thee Oh Sees.
This is my site and I can do what I please so I am doing something else for a change so all you noiserock and psych fans will have to calm down and just watch this new post. So one of my favourite places on the web (next to Fuzzy Sun ofcourse) is booooooom, a website filled with great pieces of graphic design, paintings, artworks, photographs and stuff like that and I have been checking it out for a long time and on that site I got to know some absolutely stunning artist. My favourite one being Guim Tio who makes the most amazing paintings. Be sure to check him out.
Another one I got to know on the great place that is the internet is called Owen D. Pomery who is an architect and artist that makes drawings of places that speak to the imagination and are each time places I dream of living in. You can buy some of his prints here. I always feel drawn to his work, it has a dreamlike atmosphere for me and I think I watched it so much that it seeps in to my dreams. The four works below are from his concept series, you can find a lot more works and different series on his website.
I don’t know if this post is the start of some new series on this site or if I just wanted to do something else only once. We will see. But there is actually so much to find out about all these artist, like all the amazing albumart from noiserockcovers and who is behind it for example. Or just older, more obscure artworks, all those 60/70s psychedelic posters, who knows, maybe next time I will go more in that direction. Now most of you know this site specializes in noiserock and psychedelic rock so on all the social media stuff I got to know some people with the same interests but who also make artworks so I want to share some of the artists on here who I really like.
First is Megan Umpleby aka Sludgework, a graphic designer who makes these gothic black/white drawings with pen and ink and you can just see in all these detailed artwork how passionate she is about it. She workes with a lot of bands and people connected to music. Here style has this raw punk vibe but still with some humor in it. Now, I got in contact with Miss Umpleby and she offered me a personalized drawing! You can imagine how happy I was about this, The picture I got is the one as a header image for this post and I copied it again just below.
Next up is Win Wallace, an artist that lives in Austin, Texas that makes the most gorgeous artworks. Win Wallace himself has played in bands and made a lot of flyers for pun and noiserock shows. His work is shown across the United States and internationally. He himself plays in the noiserock band Suckling. I came across him through bands like Light Screamer and The Kronk Men and now I am addicted to his work. – check out his instagram page.
Going in the same direction is the Australian artist Erol Zendis who makes music related artwork in a demon/demented style reminiscent of 90’s cartoons. We share a bit of the same music as we can see artworks for Thee Oh Sees, Slift and other heaviness. Erol also makes artwork for Skateboards.
Now I am really on a roll and I seem to have difficulty to stop. I really need to share with you the artwork on the Eiderdown Records Label, a label that specializes in music that is very far out, psychedelic and folky. I got to know them through the psychedlic folk artist Prana Crafter who makes the most beautiful music. The artwork that intriguies me most is are the ones done by Max Clotfelter. Next up is Luke Oram who makes mostly scifi/fantasy inspired artworks that have an epic feel to it. Here and there I got som Moebius vibes too (wich is one of my favourite artsist). Luke has a lot of works and makes a lot of them for bands too, bands like Dead Otter, Wallowing, Slugdge and more. Be sure to check out his website, instagram and stuff.

Now at the end of the year John Dwyer has digitally released two of the albums with the band Yikes. ‘Secrets to Superflipping’ was released in 2006 and ‘Whoa Comas or Blood Bomb’ also in 2006.Another release is the selections of songs as Netman wich is ,John Dwyer and Brian Gibson. And yet another new release is as the death metal band Dig That Body Up, It’s Alive. Wich is John Dwyer, Nate Denver and Oran from Child Abuse released also somewhere around 2006. The last one for now I think is with Pink & Brown, wich was released in 2013. Enjoy
